E Street Band saxophonist, Clarence Clemons, passed away this weekend due to complications from a recent stroke. One of the original, and the oldest, members of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Clemens has always remained an iconic staple of the New Jersey rock ‘n’ roll scene. Allegedly the story goes that Clemons, on a rainy evening, essentially broke the bar’s door off its hinges when it got caught in the wind during a heavy lightening storm. Upon asking for the gig, a slightly-intimidated (and apparently convinced) Springsteen simply replied, “Sure.
